Comments

This 2003 BMW 530i (E60) EU-Spec is the generation that redesigned the 5 Series, and it’s one of the early cars still running the proven M54 3.0-liter inline-six. It’s rear-wheel drive, and better still, the part that makes it rare: a 6-speed manual. In fact, most 530i sedans that turn up in Germany are automatics, and most of those were driven hard as company cars. As a result, this configuration is one enthusiasts go looking for and rarely find.

On top of that, it’s been sorted the way owners actually want it — KW coilovers, a sport exhaust, and 20-inch Oxigin wheels, all German-registered and road-legal. The coilovers tighten up the body control the stock setup gives away, while the exhaust finally lets the straight-six make the noise it always should have. Best of all, nothing here needs undoing before you register it.

Inside, it’s Dakota leather over black, with heated and power front seats, parking sensors, cruise control, a multifunction wheel, and the on-board computer. The cluster also switches between miles and kilometers, so you can set it to whichever you think in and leave it there. Meanwhile, 116,600 miles on a well-kept M54 is unremarkable, because this engine was built before BMW moved to turbos and direct injection. Consequently, it’s one of the last genuinely simple six-cylinders they made.

Above all, it’s a BMW in Germany, which means parts and independent-specialist labor are everywhere and cheap. Therefore it costs a fraction to run here versus back home. In addition, every car we sell comes with a 12-month comprehensive warranty and a current TÜV inspection, and we deliver free to your duty station anywhere in Germany.
